Ya, he controls that defense way differently, but the way he played against portugal showed that he still had it going for him. I think that he would have been a better pick for the match against Italy.

I read one of the answers above. She said Lehmann is younger than Kahn. Actually, that's not entirely true. Lehmann is only a few months younger than Kahn. Kahn is now at the age 37 (his b'day is in June) and Lehmann will also turn 37 at the end of the year (sorry, I forget the exact date and month).
Which of them is better? I think they both are equal in quality. That was why Klinsmann had difficult time chosing between the two. The only problem is their age. I would prefer Timo Hildebrandt (current 3rd Germany goalie) as Germany's number 1.

Lennon? You mean Lehmann, don't you?
Both are good. Oliver Kahn is actually considered the best goalie in the world with Buffon, the Italian goalie, but he's older than Lehmann and therefore more experienced. Lehmann is young. By the time he's Oliver Kahn's age, he may be the best in the world too. He did a good job overall, and was very good at penalties (better than Buffon, I must say, but only at penalties).

I disagree.
I'd never seen a goalie stops ALL corner kicks in a match... before Italy-Germany! Italy could place in the box only the last 2 corner kick... other TEN were blocked by Lehmann. Really impressive. Defenders can play calmly having such a goalie at their back. Kahn hasn't this attitude, I haven't seen him saving in the same way. He was great in 2002 WC, and deserve the golden ball award, but his own mistake in the final allow Brazil to score its first goal. He's a great professional, however. He knew to play 2006 WC only as Lehmann' substitute, and he accepted the coach choose.

First of all, it's Lehmann, not Lennon. And no, Oliver Kahn is not better than Jens Lehmann. Lehmann is a great goalkeeper, who deserved to be Germany's #1 a long time ago, but unfortunately had to stay in Kahn's shadow. He is only five months younger than Kahn, so it's not fair he had to spend so much of his career in the shadows when he is so great. He deserves much more than that.

first of all, it's Lehmann, and I definitely like Lehmann. But, Kahn will always be my number one goalie though I don't like him personally b/c he left his 8 months preganet wife for a 20 years old girl.... isn't it pity. Even Lehmann says it once, "i have a much different life." and "I don't have a 24 years old girlfriend to deal with."

Klinsman disagreed, he thought Jens Lehman was a better goalie than Oliver Kahn.

Kahn was a good keeper. Lehmann's a good keeper. The difference lies simply in tense.
