you're doing it wrong. either that or you're pressing too hard. another theory is that you need to use something to lather up first.

So many questions to ask. 1 Are you new to shaving? If so it will get better with time. 2 Do you use after shave? If you do that never seems to get better with time LOL. 3 Do you use an electric razor or blades? Buy a good quality electric if that's your choice or if you use a razor then a good quality razor is a good investment as you will be doing this the rest of your life. And just hang in there it does get better really.

Not silly. I know all about the burning feeling. There could be several reasons. When you shave you are shaving off a little of the top layer of skin. If you put after shave on right after you shave, it burns because after shave usually has alcohol in it.

It is caused by friction on your face. If you minimize the friction you will get less razor burn. You can do this by using a sharper razor. Using shaving gel. Not pressing so hard when you shave. Or soaking your face in hot water.
The longer you go without shaving the more it will burn because the longer the hairs and coarser the hairs.
Lesson: Shave more often. Use a sharp razor. Using shaving gel.

Your shaving to close. You don't need to shave the skin. Use some lotion till it feels better. Should take about four of five days. You may want to quit shaving and just use small scissors to cut the hair closely.

its called razor burn, that comes from getting a too close shave and not using enough soap or lather, not preparing the beard correctly or a new razor. whats happening is the razor is shaving off the top layer of skin.

Perhaps you are allergic to it. But another reason could very well be that are you are cutting the hair edges at the epidermical layer of your skin, the pores are left open and the lotion that you are using is flowing into the site of skin where blood is fresh and thus causes pain at the mixture of the chemicals your lotion contains.
I would recommend that you change the product you are using to one that has no alcohol and other skin irritants.

Your skin is sensitive, but it won't last for long. It will toughen up.
