HELL YEAH... Zidane was right for his head-butted on Materazzi. Further, I think I am in the agreement with Ian for kicking Materazzi again while he was down. I think 99% percent people in the world will suddenly get mad and angry when someone calling other member of family a prostitute and terrorist. Except to those who do not love their moms and family as been shown by some people here who think that Zidane was wrong.

He did right , the FIFA has to be fair and punish the Italian team and especially materazzi because they deserve it , Zidane is a mature guy not easy to disturb and he is not violent , materazzi insulted him several times ended up by insulting his family and made zidane act the way he did , another guy would beat materazzi from the first time , they must punish the guilty party .

right or wrong, he had the right to stand up to materrazi for saying those things to him. as he said, he is a man first. i think some harsh words really were said and not just the usual insults dished out in the field as materrazi would have us believe. zidane is just too much of a gentleman to repeat them in public. he might have honestly believed it's better to be wrong but righteous than right but wicked. in that situation, who can blame him?

Yes. Acc. to media, Matarazzi said something irritating to zidane, that made him to do so... Oral war is usual n games, but saying bad about one's mother & sister may disturb..

Yes,
He has the right to defend his dignity.
Without all his background-the world does not get this best player as he is.Who he is,what he has been through ,to whom he belongs to must be respected first.
Not giving an answer or action to matarezi's insults would spoil the football field.

no - words aren't enough to justify what he did.

it's like the NBA players that went into the stands after the fans last year - he crossed a line that no pro athlete should.

I think it will (and should) tarnish his legacy as a player.

Nope. Your country is more important than whatever a stupid Italian might say about your mom and sister

Yeah, if someone was talking bad about my mom to my face, I'd do the same thing, except probably kick him when he's down afterwards.
