Hated and disrespected because they're not understood. Spend a day with a driver and see what he/she faces day to day with four wheelers and the stupid antics some pull. Do you know how long it takes to stop a rig that's close to 80,000 lbs. going 55 MPH? Do the math folks, then tell me why those fools pull into the lane in front of the truck at a red light cutting up his/her stopping distance down to nothing. Just to be in front?

I Hate Truck Driving

it's because of the fact that big 18-wheeler trucks are usually considered by people to be a huge burden on the road, and since they're so gigantic, whenever one even goes by it makes some people nervous/anxious. so, even before a truck driver does anything wrong on the road, people already kind of have a vendetta against them - then when a they actually DO something rude, like cut someone off or if two trucks take up both lanes of a 2-lane highway, it pisses people off 10x more than if it was done by just some other random car.

then when it's raining out and big trucks splash water all over you?? that's the worst. but truck drivers usually don't really even do anything wrong, it's just their presence on the road that agitates certain people.

Its funny how people forget about us. If you have something chances are a truck brought it to you.
This country moves on us. We are the back bone of this country.
Im so sorry that alot of the trucks on the road are set at a certain speed they can only go so fast. And god forbid we are running heavy then its even worse.
To a truck driver the cars are in the way this highway is our home we spend months at a time on the road away from our family and friends. Just remember who brings you your food.

There are a several different answers to your questions. I will give you a few of them and I suspect that other answers will be just as valid.

The reasons people cut off truck drivers may include:
1) They became upset following the slower truck for so long.
2) They are retaliating against the truck driver who cut them off moments earlier.
3) They really want to get around the truck because they cannot see past the truck. When they try to pass, the timingis tight and they force their way in instead of waiting for a safer opportunity to pass.
4) They have a preconceived notion that the truck driver will be slow at all times.

Your second and third questions actually go together. Truck drivers are hated and disrespected because:
1) Many truck drivers force their way into other lanes when they merge. It is understandable when they MUST take advantage of the opportunity but it is downright disrespectful when they move in front of a faster moving car when they easily could have allowed that car to pass and still have plenty of time to move over.
2) Many truck drivers give the attitude of "I am bigger than you and you can't stop me". I don't know about you but when I feel disrespected - I don't have much respect for the person who has no respect for me.
3) Some of the trucks on the road put out a strong deisel smell that offend other drivers. They don't hate the driver in this case - the hate the offending truck.

I hope that this answers your question.

I don't cut off or tailgate truck drivers. Hell, I don't even do that to normal cars. I don't hate truck drivers....except I commute a lot and on the freeway I go on there are only two lanes. Sometmes a truck will go over to the fast lane to ATTEMPT to pass up another truck.....and they end up basically going at the same speed. Meanwhile, the truck in the fast lane holds up an entire line of traffic since regular cars can't pass up either. That is my only reason for ever getting mad at trucks.

I don't hate truck drivers, but I hate the size of the trucks. I hate being behind them because the trucks give off a nasty smell, which I'm sure isn't good to breathe in. I can never see the freeway signs cuz they get in my way. They drive slow, which I know is more for safety but I still wouldn't want to be behind one. It's just annoying. I try not to cut them off though. I make sure I signal and give them a lot of room when I change lanes in front of them cuz I certainly wouldn't want to make them slam their breaks..but still it's annoying to drive behind them.

Truck drivers tailgate, use crappy recap tires that come off at speed, and crowd motorcycles and pass them on gravel roads. I'm not supposed to use the A.s..sh.o..le word here , but, you know what I mean.
