In physical cosmology, the Big Bang is the scientific theory of how the universe emerged from a tremendously dense and hot state about 13.7 billion years ago. The Big Bang theory is based on the observed Hubble's law redshift of distant galaxies that when taken together with the cosmological principle indicate that space is expanding according to the Friedmann-Lemaître model of general relativity. Extrapolated into the past, these observations show that the universe has expanded from a state in which all the matter and energy in the universe was at an immense temperature and density. Physicists do not widely agree on what happened before this, although general relativity predicts a gravitational singularity (for reporting on some of the more notable speculation on this issue, see cosmogony).
The term Big Bang is used both in a narrow sense to refer to a point in time when the observed expansion of the universe (Hubble's law) began — calculated to be 13.7 billion (1.37 × 1010) years ago (±2%) — and in a more general sense to refer to the prevailing cosmological paradigm explaining the origin and expansion of the universe, as well as the composition of primordial matter through nucleosynthesis as predicted by the Alpher-Bethe-Gamow theory [1].
One consequence of the Big Bang is that the conditions of today's universe are different from the conditions in the past or in the future (natural evolution of universe constantly takes place). From this model, George Gamow in 1948 was able to predict, at least qualitatively, the existence of cosmic microwave background radiation (CMB) [2]. The CMB was discovered in the 1960s and further validated the Big Bang theory over its chief rival, the steady state theory.
And yes, there is God.

Thank you Taoman well put!
Religions also have no PROOF of origin and in fact the gods are much like the big bang in that it is believed they are the origin of all that is, however where did god come from. Because these beings are so supreme often it would be said "god always has been". This however leads to more questions such as: what was god doing before he created the universe? This leads to so many possibilities to contradict religions prime beliefs such as god created man in his own image to rule over all creatures on earth, but with further space exploration this leaves the possibility open that god then may have created other races in his own image. If this was so then what would become of religion if we did not turn out to look anything alike, what about the ruling race? Who rules when not on their planet? Also is there more than one universe, or did god begin eternities ago and sit until 13 billion years ago and finally decide to create something? Questions of this scale we cannot know, so we turn to religion and say that because a higher being said so we must stop questioning and blindly follow.
Just wondering if god wanted us to be so controlled in our thinking then why would he have given us free will and intelligence?
If we ever did discover how all things were created and were able to prove it scientifically, Religions would still deny it. There would be an uproar and the science which we struggled throughout the centuries to understand and master would be thrown out the window because of religious fundamentals and fanaticism. Which is really a sad thought.

There are many people who believe that God created the initial matter of the universe and set the big bang in motion. Some believe that He left the universe alone after that (I think this is sometimes referred to as the "Watchmaker God"). Others believe that He has remained involved.
I would guess that no matter what someone says to you, you will continue to believe in God, similarly, there are people who will refuse to believe in God, no matter what proof you offer. The supposition that you put forth here is an interesting discussion point, but unfortunately still does not prove that God exists.

So just because we don't yet know what happened before (or to cause the Big Bang), you immediately jump up and spout that therefore God must exist!
You have this Lilly livered, chicken **** mentality, scared of everything you don't understand, that makes you invoke a "supreme being" everytime you meet something in life you can't explain.
Its the closed-minded attitude of all religious types that leads to all the conflict in the world with cries such as...
My God's better than your God or...
You need to follow my moral code 'cos my God says your a heathen.
C'mon, open up your mind to the possibilities of life, the Universe, and everything.....don't close it down in uninformed judgments of everything and everyone around you in the name of your God, for which you have absolutely no proof or evidence...just that "YOU HAVE FAITH"....Well I have faith that one day we will understand why the Universe started in the Big Bang.... and that faith is due to the fact that there are plenty of us still trying to find out what really is going on...instead of sitting back in the self righteous and "holier than thou" way and saying "SEE, YOU DON"T KNOW THEREFORE I'M RIGHT, BE LIKE ME!

No one will ever know. Read Angels & Demons, atleast the first couple chapters. They suggest a theory about anti-matter and matter colliding...ya I can't explain it. Or you can look at it in the biblical sense...God created everything! Big bang theory may be just be a theory created by someone who wasn't religious!? Let me know haha

Yes, that is exactly what it suggests. I definitely believe that God set the Big Bang in motion.

Believing that all of this came about as a random accident is no different than believing in Santa. There is a God.
