Take your battery to an Auto Zone store and they will test the battery for free and tell you if it is still any good. If it is, pick up the cheapest charger possible at Wal-Mart. If it isn't any good a charger will not help you any and it is time to buy a new battery!

I'd say it depends on how old the battery you are thinking of replacing is. You also have to consider the condition of your cars charging system. If your regulator or alternator are starting to malfunction, then the battery may be OK, but not getting charged properly. In that case, buying a new battery wouldn't accomplish anything. The charger would just be a stopgap, since it wouldn't save you if you went on a long trip and couldn't use it often enough.

Buy a new car battery is the best, if you buy a charger and you do not know the conditions of your battery chances are you just be wasting time charging and recharging , more power consumption, not to mention, when the weather is unpredictable then you started to worry about your battery.

In most cases a new car battery. It should only require replacement every few years. If it's more often than that, there is another problem with your car. If you are replacing your battery frequently, and don't want to address the problem, get a car charger and it will hold you over until you get to a mechanic or fix it yourself.

Its cheaper to buy a battery charger but every single night you have to take the battery out and recharge it and trust me the electricity used really shows up on your electricity bill.

A charger is nice to have around if you need it for a motorcycle, pick up and a lawn mower. If you just have a silly car buy a new battery and don't forget the core...
