I love to write and would like to get some of my work published. Who would be the best publisher to go to?

It depends on what you have written. Have you written a book? What kind of book is it, nonfiction, fiction, children, poetry? I would buy a book called "Writer's Market for 2006," it is a directory of publishers and magazines and it also talks about how to write query letters and if you need a literary agent.

Here's another good online directory: www.clmp.org

I am a writer myself, and I sent my poetry to both small magazines and big magazines. You can start small-like get published in an online magazine-and then work your way up towards the bigger magazines. Sometimes it takes years to get published, sometimes it does not. But you have to be persistent, and don't get bummed out if you get a hundred rejection slips. Getting rejected happens to all good writers.

There are a lot of publishing scams out there. The biggest publisher scams are Publish America, and poetry.com. Do not submit to them!! You also have to watch out for the vanity publishers.

Good luck!!

Depends on what you write. If it is short fiction you would send to various magazines, anthologies. If you write books, you will want to send to book publishers. Do your homework, go to the library and look up (in Writer's Market) who accepts the type for thing you are writing. Go online and find out about manuscript format, SASEs, etc. Send your work out and keep submitting.

Try not to go to vanity presses as you have to pay to have the books published and there is usually no distribution system. Publishing work is not the problem, getting it out to readers is.

There are also online publications. Some pay, some don't, Some will edit your work, some won't.

The main thing to do is research. You can find a lot about publishers by simply looking up publishing markets online.

You might also want to check "Predators and Editors" which warns you about bad publishers, agents, etc.

Good Luck.

That depends on the genre that you write.
