I just read some major BULL about the jewish church trying to incite violence against gay ppl. OMG I don't get upset here often but blew my top. The person had no source to back up any of it.
Then to add insult to injury all these answerers jumped on the bandwagon as though they just knew everything about jewish ppl hating homosexuality. LOL
Let me enlighten you: Jewish ppl are incredibly liberal when it comes to equality and nonjudgment on others. If you are gay, you are fully accepted within the church. It is about love of your community. No, it's not aloud in your face type but the abolishment of it that you see within christianity does not exist here.
I'm considered a special kind of jew. I am a female born of a female that was born of a female who was a holocaust survivor. I am not only jewish but jewish by race. If you know anything about being jewish at all then you understand the female passage relevance.
Do some of you make up answers as you go along or what?

Hope, I use the terminology that most americans use, church, just to represent the faith. And actually as I was typing, I almost typed that but chose to try to relate more to my audience.

Synagogue honey -- but yes, Reform, Reconstructionist, Conservative Egalitarian and to a less extent Conservative Judaism are accepting of gays. Reform Judaism (which includes most American Jews) perform gay weddings as well.
My partner was born Jewish -- and went to Yeshiva when he was young. He was an atheist for a while, and then became Wiccan, but the heritage is still Jewish.
Thank you for the response. The people who caused the Holocaust still hate the Jews, and use everything in their power to attack them. When you hear rhetoric like that, its just arch-conservatives trying to divide the different minorities against each other -- particularly Jews and gays.
Thank you again.

Hi, I don't know anything about Jewish people, thanks for the enlightenment. I had actually belonged to a Baptist church for a while until a 14 year old girl, who happened to be my neighbor came to me crying.
Her mother had passed away many years ago, and her father was in prison. She lived with her Grandparents, who were very old. She started going to the church which was right down the road. The elders there told her that if she ever needed anything she could come to them.
One day she went to them and told them that she hated herself because she thought that maybe she was gay. She felt like she was sinning and looked for them for advice.
She was told that she would be going to hell if she did not change her ways. She was also excomunicated from bible school and any church function. She was told this was to prevent her poisoning the other children with this evilness.
For a while she was told she could attend the church services only, but only for a short time until she could make her mind up about this OUTWARD sin.
I was upset and asked the church why, since getting a divorce is not allowed, but over half of the church sits there on sundays. Some have been married two and three times over. How are we any better than this kid who came to YOU for guidance?
I was told that it was a different type of sin, where as being Gay is an outward sin that spreads poison?!?!?!? The sin is being constantly thrown up in the churches face, where another kid can't see the sins of divorce. I thought this was bunk!
This child was soooooooooooo hurt, and confused, and was dropped like a hot potato, hmmm some christians.
I have since stopped going to church. I do believe in God.

Hi.. I was shocked when I heard about this.. However.. You cant persecute an entire group by the actions of a few fools. Not all muslims are terrorists..
Does the Jewish religion believe in the old testement not the new? And also, you believe that Jesus was not the son of christ but the son of david? I am currently reading the old testement and I cant be sure if I was told that Jews (please take no offense to that) follow the old testement and was wondering if that is true?? I

They don't have a clue. Best girl I ever dated was Jewish.
Best neighborhood I ever lived in was Jewish. And one of my neighbors was an Auswitzch survivor (with the tattooed numbers on her wrist.)
The heart of Judaism is justice and rightousness.
A Jew can only be born a Jew through a Jewish mother. The father may be gentile, but the mother must be Jewish.
I was raised Roman Catholic.

One major problem is that people tend to think of "Christianity" and "Judaism". Each of those is broken down into more sects, each of which having their own beliefs. Are you reform, out of curiosity? The pamphlets in question, if I recall, had a label that linked them with the Orthodox Jews in Israel (which, if they were printed by an individual, doesn't mean ANYTHING, but that's where this is coming from).

If you are really Jewish, you would call their place of worship a synagogue, and not a church.
