better than that is a book called "marriable" by hayley and michael DiMarco, a married couple with a Biblical yet entertaining approach to dating with a purpose in its entirety.
Best way is to be straightforward, confident (at least on the surface) and honest.
good luck, bro.

PS- ^ Melody's answer is complete loser, cowardly, girly bullshit.
and so is fakebrokenbones'. They're women, they have either never owned a penis therefore don't know anything or aren't mature enough to know that they just don't have the right answer.
Girls want a guy who knows how to wear the pants in a relationship. Asking over MSN or through friends, that's like going Dutch on a date= you might as well write her a letter in plain English that says, I'm not man enough to date you. They are after all women, so you must forgive them, but it's as if you show up to prom in a dress. Some people (like me) will see it as weird right off the bat and never talk to you again. Others (dumb chix--sorry ladies) will think it's cute or funny or individual; but after a while, after everyone and the dumb chix mature; they'll all think, "Did that guy really go to prom in a dress?"
Be a man, wear the pants, ask her out in person, hold your chin up. If you don't want a pity date, tell her, "Hey girl, I was wondering if you wanted to go out some time, and don't say it unless you really mean it, okay? Pity dates are for LOOOOZERS and I'm trying to keep my record clean right now."
what is the best way to ask a girl out?????????

There are 50 ways. Buy a book called 50 ways, to get a date.
I suggest buying two movie tickest in advance, and saying to the girl of your choice, " have two tickets, to this movie. But I haven't anyone to see it with. Would you please do me the favor, of using the second ticket?".

Have her friends do it for you because if you ask her out theres always a chance she won't like you. Then she'll feel pressured to say yes and might not end up liking you. Talk to one of her friends and ask them to ask her out for you. They'll be more then happy to do it.

Ask her over the internet...like MSN. Or some messanger. She'll be less presurred to say yes. And if she does, it means she does want to go with you, so she will :p obviously.
