Technically speaking appendecitis(appendectomy) is done only to remove an extra growth,that occurs in the intestine.Once it is removed the patient is out of danger.So any person who has underwent this surgery,can do all the normal work(carrying weight,exercise,etc) after taking rest for 15 days.

At 23 pounds is it really a baby or a child. How old is this baby? No you should not be lugging around 23 pounds until after you are cleared with the surgeon in about 6 weeks. That baby should be walking.

I would not reccomend it, but you can always call your doctor just to check and see what he says.
