I saw it at the movies back in 1998 when it first came out. I liked it though and I still like it. I love Matthew Broderick, he's awesome. I agree the special effects were great, much better than any other Godzilla movie. I don't understand why it got such bad reviews.

great flick. the only thing i did not like was in the scene in which Godzilla was being chased by the three helicopters the buildings looked very CGI-ish and not like buildings in NYC. In addition, Madison Square Garden did not look authentic. However, the movie did have a great sense of humor since we are talking about a Godzilla movie (not something that should be taken too seriously).

great movie, but NOT godzilla.
I think Toho ltd. sued hollywood big time because the "american" godzilla appeared and got it's but kicked in godzilla: final wars.
godzilla 2000 was mutilated in the translation probably in a hollywood attempt to keep their "godzilla" good in comparison.
I don't think that the whole controversy would have been started if Hollywood and called it "leviathan", "mutated dragons", or something else (less cheesy than mine probably). It couldn't even belch smoke even let alone fire breath!

Yes. Godzilla was very cool looking. Story and dialog needed work. Godzilla does not dive off into the ocean he walks into the ocean. Whoever heard of a diving dinosaur ?

But the plot still bit the big one. Not that Godzilla 2000 was any good, either.

I liked it as well, but I would have loved it a heck of a lot better if Godzilla was in a tag team match, or one on one.

Yeah, that was a pretty good movie. I hate all the scenes with the earth worms though...

yeah it was good, I enjoyed watching that movie, I haven't seen it for awhile so I will watch it again, and maybe will be kinda like the first time again, that's great when you don't see a movie for a long time and then watch it again, its almost like a new movie again. Thanks for reminding me of such a good movie.
