I'm currently 12 weeks pregnant and REALLY need a job. I have an interview friday and I was wondering. Should I inform them that I am pregnant or should I wait?!
I don't want to get in trouble for not letting them know but I also don't want to end up on welfare, no offense to those people who are on it but I wouldn't feel right about it.

I want to thank you all for your answers! They were all very helpful. As much as I should tell them right away, I also only have pickles and a tub of butter in my fridge right now and am in serious danger of getting my phone and electricty shut off.
So I think I've decided to wait and to tell them and when I tell them I will inform them I didn't want to say anything incase I ended up having a miscarriage. Which is true even though I'm 12 weeks that is something I am very scared of and will be till my child is born.

Anyway I want to thank you all very much for your answers! I really appreciate it!

Don't tell them yet. It's against the law for them to use that in deciding to hire or fire you so keep it a secret during the hiring process. Tell them when you're about 5 months along so they can arrange for a worker in your absence. I don't think you'll qualify for FMLA (12 weeks leave for delivery and post-partum) but many companies will hold the job anyway as a courtesy.

Pregnant woman have rights! Don't take any unfair treatment. My old boss hated her empoloyees having babies but what do you expect when your staff is made of women in their 20s and 30s?

From a young working mother to a expecting mother wanting to work mother. I found myself at 18 weeks looking for work. Even though I wasn't showing one bit I was upfront and honest and told them the truth. I will admit I got knocked by a couple of companies at first, but where I still currently work they took me abroad despite my pregnancy. They could see i was eager to work and I promised them I'd be back after 10 months following the birth of my child. I also think they appreciated my honesty and I think If you are honest and upfront that alone could secure you a job. Good luck and I hope everything turns out OK for you!

Its tricky but basically do you want this job long term?? going it at 12 weeks they will know you were aware of your pregnancy when you eventually tell them. This may create animosity over the deception.

There should be no discrimination in regards to pregnancy but there still is..... sadly!!

Think about what you want, interview well, tell them you want to keep the job long term and stick to that commitment

i think you should let them know that you are pregnant AFTER you got the job
like do the interview then once you started your job talk to your manager about it!

don't tell them.

You do not need to, and they are not allowed to ask. If they do and don't give you the job, report them for discrimination.

It is your own business, not theirs. The only thing they may do is not pay you for maternity leave.

your best bet is to keep it a secret, when you are 4 month or 5 you can let them know keep it on a need to know basic.
good luck!
