teaching some one to write a song is kind of like teaching someone to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich,
" well which do you spread first? the peanut butter or the jelly?"
it doesn't matter, their is no format, it's art.
but if you want to know the way i do it, it's sometimes something like this.
i'll be jamming and i'll come up with a cool bass riff, then after playing that riff a few times i come up with a melodie, and i just sing "la la la" or "na na na" or "do do do". then i'll figure out exactly what key it is in, (if i don't allready know) and i'll jam in that key until i find some more riffs hiding in my guitar, i'll make up melodies for the different parts( chorus bridge verse)
and then i basically build off of that until i think the music is finished, and lyrics are the hard part, lyrics may come with the melodie and some times they take months, it just depends how poetic you are.
now note this is not " how to write a song", there is no such ting
this is how i've written a few songs.
to anwer your melodie question i just sing it again and again and agian until i find the pitches on my bass, it's hard but it works.

To write a song easily you must first write a poem or an essay that can be easily transferred into a song. And after that you must then find a melody that suits best your lyrics. You must consider the timing. All you need in this field is express your feelings.

There is no official way in regards to lyrics first or music first. A lot of times in a band, you will have the singer add his words just by getting inspired by the music already written...same goes with the rest of the band reading the singer's lyrics.
It's up to you. There are people who do nothing in music, but spend months and months just writing the lyrics with the music in their head, and then a few years later they start making all the music.
Start out simple with the music, that's very important. Take your time, and make sure you get that feeling out that's unique to you.
Good luck.

Give me a break with the I love you crap! Write the songs as you play with them. You play guitar and piano........great! When I write, it is just a string of notes, or cool hook (whether words, melody, or riff), or a lyric I build on.
The great part of being a writer is there is really no formula. Sing it to yourself. If you have a band, sing it to them, convey the beat, and talk about the keys.
A song has no parameters. If you are able to put it out there the way you hear it...........guess what .......you are a songwriter. If you are on your own with the talents of being able to play instruments, your good.
If your are talking about writing it down musically to create sheet music.........Every Good Boy Does Fine..........F....A....C...E.....!

I write the lyrics, and have them in melody at the same time. it is putting the insterments to it that I have trouble with. Luckely, I can sing a song, and my uncle can just start playing with it after hearing it a couple of times. I think it comes from lots of experience

It's no secret- writing music is hard. I can read, play, transcribe, transpose, and arrange music, but composing- using your own work and not that of others- is a stumbling block in itself to me.
As such, I may not have the natural songwriter's answer. Even so, I try to form a good picture of the song- its genre, its theme, a few lyrics or licks if you have them- and work from this greater mass, chipping away and detailing chord progressions and rhyme and rhythm schemes until I have a finished, polished work.
Hope this helps. Good luck- you'll need it.

Some artist do....
Depends on the talent you're working with.
Written music doesn't really involve every single note played. It would look like mess...and be difficult for someone to read.
You just have to figure out what works best for you really.
