I work with the public daily and I have experienced horrible dead-fish breath on only a couple of Asian people I have met and its a small percentage not all Asians have horrible dead-fish breath just some. Unfortunately, I work with one and the dead-fish smell almost knocks me down when he passes me. I told him respectfully that his breath smelled so he knew. He still has dead-fish breath.
The only smells I think are worse are: Women who wear to much perfume, a skunk, and someone who hasn't bathed in days. Besides, dead-fish breath the other mentioned smells are most horrible as well.

I've smelled it on both Asian men and women. They eat raw garlic. The smell comes out of the breath and sweat. Showering doesn't remove the smell, it has to exit all on its own.

I live in the Philippines (26 years now) and I noticed this about North-western Asians (Japanese, Chinese, Korean). I ve come to that conclusion when almost every single Chinese or Korean that I met had this fishy breath that I never noticed in Filipinos. I doubt it has anything to do with hygiene or food since most of them were "Filipinized" or grew up there. Now that I live in LA I m noticing this foul odor again in my Japanese friends and it s not seasonal. It s always bad!

Alot of people say that it is the food that they eat, but if they had decent dental hygiene then that wouldnt be the case! I believe that it has something to do with the glands in their mouth, because if food was the case then alot of other cultures that eat similar foods would have the same problem, and they dont!
Personally I never encountered this problem, if it is a few people, they could possibly have bad hygiene, but if it turns out to be all asians, then its problem something biological!

Did you ever think that they may think your breath smells bad. You have to understand that different cultures and societies do different things and that they eat different foods, so it could be the food that they are eating and used to. And you are totally stereotyping all asians. I seriuosly doubt that you have smelled every Asians breath on this entire continent.

If they come from Korea it's often a result of always eating Kimchee. It's a spiced fermented cabbage dish that causes bad breath when people eat it all of the time.

It's the food they consume, garlic & other which cannot be rid until it is flushed out of the body. So even showering and brushing would not get rid of that horrendous breath!

It's probably the food they eat. I once read a letter in Dear Abby about a couple who couldn't stand the smell of each other. She was Asian, he was American, She told them to each eat food from the other country, so that they could tolerate each other.
