Do women ovulate before or after their period? When is the best time to have sex without getting pregnant if you're not on birth control?

Women ovulate before their period. Once you ovulate the egg comes down the fallopian tube & when it's not fertilized by semen your uterus sluffs off and thus you bleed. Everyone is different & you can get pregnant anytime because your cycle may vary from time to time.
There is also the Basal Body Temperature rhythm method, this helps you establish when you ovulate.
So use condoms if, you're not on birth control.

yes, most women who have 28-day cycles ovulate on the 14th day (day one being the first day of your period). HOWEVER...a very small percentage of women actually have a 28 day cycle..it varies greatly person to person. Some women will also ovulate before or after that mid-cycle point, so it's very hard to pinpoint the exact day you ovulate. The best thing to do is chart your menstrual cycles on a calendar over several months, see where you average on days between the first day of one period and the day before your next period...avoid sex or double up on protection for 3 or 4 days before AND after the day that falls in the middle of your cycle. Then cross your fingers and pray.

You ovulate before your period. The period is a result of the egg released during ovulation not being fertilized.
Go to the Planned Parenthood website for various "rhythm" methods. Be aware that they're not very reliable. Use protection!

A woman ovulates about two weeks after the first day of her period.
The rhythm method of birth control is totally unreliable since the above is just a "generality"... everyone is different. And sperm can survive inside a woman for a few days.
Have him wear a condom. And I'd suggest birth control as well. If you don't want a pregnancy, there are many excellent methods available today, thanks to the efforts of many generations of women before you. If you are not ready to bring a child into this world, it is YOUR responsibility to take appropriate precautions. It's just not fair to a child to burden them with your mistakes.

Ovulation occurs around 14 days after the first day of your period, or actuallly both before and after, since it is a "cycle"... Best time to have sex is right after or right before they mestruate (if the are pretty regular)..
Don't go to Planned Parenthood...yuck...Take a class on Natural Family Planning.. The catholic church sometimes offers those or at least can offer information about classes, since the catholic church does not believe in birth control.

A woman can get pregnant at ANY time of their cycle. Usually ovulation is apprx. 2 weeks prior to menstruation, however more than one egg can be released unbeknownst to you, at any time. You are fertile for some day(s) after ovulation. Sperm also is viable for many hours/days. Therein lies a large window of opportunity for pregnancy. Unprotected sex is Russian roulette and just plain unsafe. Even the cleanest looking people, with few partners, may be carrying STD's. You only have one body- take care of it!!! Even 'pulling out" is ineffective- sperm can be released in pre-ejaculate. Drop any man unwilling to wear a condom. You should be responsible and have one just in case. Go to a planned parenthood or OB/GYN and prepare and educate yourself. Be Safe!!

Usually 11-21 days after their period, and before their next period. Take a test to tell you when you are ovulating, buy at Walgreens

Hon. we ovulate 14 days after our period. The day when you start period is the 1st day, and on the 14 th you will ovulate. And sperms live 3-5 days. so just have to be careful. It's always safe after your period.

Before. The shedding of the uterus occurs when there is no implantation of a fertilized egg.
Don't trust the rhythm method. Timing varies from woman to woman... so don't take anyone's advice as to the "best time".

it happens about 1/2 way between cycles and any time you have unprotected sex theres always the possibility of getting pregnant
