Zidane exhibited extremely poor sportmanship and absolutely no anger control when he did the headbutt. That should have made him ineligible for the Golden Ball. I think it is wrong to reward poor sportsmanship. It sends the message that bad behavior is not only tolerated, it is rewarded.

I don't think so
unless one of the criteria of getting the award is not ot get a red card or someting like that. The award is to acknowledge his marvellous soccer technique and French team's dependence on him to enter the final.
If he's to be stripped of the award, should Italy be taken away the trophy as Mezzeri provoked his opponent. This is unethical too.

If zidane is to be ripped of the golden ball award,
then materrazi, if proven guilty, should also be ripped off his winning goldmedal - and banned from sport for atleast 6 months combined with heavy fines.
specially if he said "muslim terrorist" , which i am sure zidane did not discuss due to sensitivity of the issue, else lip readers have already brought this to light.
also, when the italian minister labelled france players as "black, muslims and communists"

Yes. For violent conduct like that. It shows how much he does not deserve it. A good player does not do something like that. A good player walks away and laughs. Both need to be fined but Zidane does not need it now. I do not think he deserved it in the first place. The second place person deserves it. They only conceded two goals. One was a penalty and one was an own goal.

That's just pathetic kicking him while he's down.
In answering your question though, I don't think he should lose it. Maybe if he hadn't already won it then maybe they should consider giving it to someone else. But since he's already been awarded it i see no point in striping him of it. The talent has already been recognized. It becomes pointless now to take that away from him being that without the award he'll still be recognized as having won it.

he should get the golden ball award, and then come over your place, and beat you up with it. Then he should go to Mat's house and break it in his head. By the way, what's the biggest accomplisment you ever had?..Asking this question on you Yahoo answers? I bet you don't even know what a trophy looks like..you probably wouldn't even win a freakin spelling beee.
Next question!
thanks for the 2 points you R-E-T-A-R-D

No. Why should us judge him only in a match and forget all those great glory years of him in football? It's skill that's matter and he has shown to us that he is, indeed, a great player over years. He truly deserves the award.

No because its just one bad play. Also, the Italian was harrassing him about his mother and sister under his breath the whole game. He should be penalized as well. The Italian was the provoker.
