It really would depend on the situation. In WWII I think I could but against Iraq, Iran, or North Korea I don't know. It would really depend on the situation.

If someone fired a nuke at the US, lets say N. Korea, and I got the order to return fire on them, I would.

For me its not about the thousands of people your killing but its a war. Two countries are hostile to each other and one strikes first. I'd do anything to defend the country of which I serve.

It would be differen't if I was ordered to fire a nuke at someone aggressivly. That I could never do.

Lastly, if I had an opinion that I didn't believe my leader was serving the best interests of his country but was serving the interests of himself, I would have some conflict.

When asked this question I like to think of the movie Crimson Tide where a weapons officer is ordered to fire a missle by his commander, Gene Hackman, and he disobeys the order at a great risk to his own life. It turns out that the order was wrong in the first place, it would have been for nothing.

No.

Some of the pilots on the Enola Gay (the plane that was used to drop an A-bomb on Hiroshima) went through enormous guilt and therapy later. Who wouldn't? It's enough to kill 1 person, but if you found out you killed 140,000 civilians in a single day, and you have any decency in you, you would not be able to sleep at night.

The only way we would drop a nuke is in retaliation of a nuclear strike on American soil.

We would never use nukes as an aggressive strike. I fully support the use of nukes when retaliating against military targets and political capitals of aggressive regimes we are at war with, who have used nukes on us.

Therefore, depending on the circumstance and the target, I would drop the bomb.

And Cozzette... why don't you do the world a favor and kill yourself first. Show us how committed you are to reducing population on Earth. Prove it.

I f*cking hate people who talk about population control. Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot... these are people who are infamous for slaughtering millions. You want to join their ranks? Put a bullet in your head, and you'll see them in hell. Die you fricking Nazi.

yes I could, and to the person who made the statement about the u.s. policy to only use nukes against an enemy who has used nukes against us needs to review history the ONLY use of nuclear weapons was used as a first strike aggressive attack against an enemy who had NO CAPABILITY of using a nuke. so while the public policy may be not to use them, trust me there is no policy that prohibits it's use as a first strike weapon. and again yes I would fire one, as a foreward observer we used/do have the ability to drop an artillery fired tactical nuclear round....find the little town in pakistan where bin laden is hiding (probably one of the towns that is openly controled by the taliban cowards) and drop a tactical nuke on that puppy, turn it into a glass parkinglot.

Nope. If I was in the military, I'd either have to be in a non-combatant role (which would be pretty likely since I'm a software engineer with courses in cryptology) or as a sniper. There's something about precision shooting. So efficient.

yes, so long as I thought the reason's behind it held the best interest of everyone involved.
I think a depleation of population is exactly what this world needs. The longer people live the more crowded we get, and the more crowded we get the more violent we get, and the more resources we use.

NEWS FLASH: terrorists ARE non-military! They are terrorists! I would have much more trouble blowing up honorable men and women fighting for their countries, than blowing up some bad people that are only going to wreak havoc on the planet.

Nope.
