Let's say you want to use google. Then, on the menu bar, select Tools -> Internet options - Then set http://www.google.com/ as your home page.
Or else get the google toolbar and select set google as my default search engine during installation, the rest will be done automatically.
Gud luck

If you don't have a HOME PAGE specified, use that SET HOME PAGE link to link up to the search engine page you like!
