I had Ambien twice at 8 months pregnant and had a very healthy baby boy along with two great nights of sleep. If you call your ob/gyn, he or she can call a prescription in for you if it is safe. As far as I know, it is the only safe sleeping pill.

i am a RN and i will try to help you as best as i can. first of all, the ambien is out. any prescription pills have the potential to be harmful to any unborn fetus. that is just like drinking and smoking while pregnant. there is a chance that it may or may not hurt the baby. there is an all natural sleep aide that is 100% vegetarian that you can buy in drug stores it is called Melatonin. but, before you try anything you should always contact your physician first. there are other methods you can, try such as: 1. drinking chamomille tea, 2. bathing in lavender scented soaps or burning lavender scented candles at bedtime, 3.drinking warm milk at bedtime, or 4. decrease stimulants at bedtime. if none of this helps, you may need prescription pills prescribed only by your private physician. i hope this helps. :-)

I would recommend a daily regimen of exercise such as walking, A balanced diet, And you need to learn some breathing exercises that will help you relax. Contact your local hospital they could probably tell you where they offer Lamaze classes, that is where to learn the breathing exercises. dont consume anything with caffeine in it.and develop a regular sleep routine get up early go to bed early, dont take naps to late in the afternoon, etc.. Finally try taking a warm bath before bed and drink a warm glass of milk! Good Luck! If problem persists call your Dr.

When I was pregnant and had really bad sciatica (pinched nerve in your back), my ob gave me tylenol P.M. It helped relieve my aches and pains and has a mild sleep agent that put me right to sleep. If taken OCCASIONALLY, it is totally safe. Tylenol itself in it's regular form (not extra strength) is safe to take while pregnant. I was also told to try some herbal teas (Celestial Seasonings Sleepy Bear) but they didn't seem to work. I found that a warm bath and two tylenol PM did the trick every time !! Believe me, if you think it's tough sleeping now, just wait til that baby arrives !!! Good luck !

Everything I have read says to avoid Melatonin while pregnant.. It can even lead to defects in the baby as well as hormonal problems... In the past it has been used to prevent pregnancy - so I really dont think its something you would want to take while pregnant.. i posted a link from the mayo clinic regarding melatonin and its hazards in pregnancy...

There is an Herbal Tea made by Celestial Seasonings called Sleepytime Tea and my sister in law asked her doctor about using it while pregnant and he said it was fine. I know Walmart carries it or you can try going to this website www.celestialseasonings.com. Good luck.
