too bad that what Zidane did can be seeing, but what Materazzi did can not. Does that mean that Zizou's head butt is bad and the Italian guy is not. NOT. Harsh words although unmeasurable by awareness is as bad if not worse than what Zizous did. It started with that, the Italian guy offended first.

Do not get so upset. Wait because there are investigations coming up. Zidane did not regret his actions yet apologized. The Itialian said he didn't say anything that insulted his religion, family, racism, and politics. Which is a lie.
But, Italians are known for there bad ways of playing soccer. They are sneaky and always cheat.
I think the investigations should be going their way fast. A deaf person could read the lips of Materazzi on a screen and then the whole world will know what he said to piss Zidane off.
Insults should not be allowed at all but even if insults by words were allowed, some like MAterrazzi cannot be tolerated. Even though Zidane left in a unhonorable way, he was still given the tile of "Best player of FIFA World Cup."
Lets just wait and see Materazzi's *** kicked. I mean, even Italians hated his ways of glory.

Zidane admitted he was wrong and he deserved the red card and Materazzi DID NOT say anything racist toward Zidane.
Some people are writing Zidane is the bigger man because he apolagized, How is he a bigger man if he was the one who lost his temper at the end of a good game and head-buted Materazzi. Players insult other players alot in the World Cup, ITALY WON

Zidane is the MAN.. of cos he will admit his mistake.
He has great sportsmanship.
Well as for Materazzi, we can't compare his "class" with the world class player, not mentioning sportsmanship, which we all know he have none.
Moreover, I believe is he busy checking out what "TERRORIST" is. Maybe he is travelling around right now to USA or Bali.. to find out more I guess.
A little note to SAVERIO C :
Ya we know ur are the champion of WC 2006.
Italy did play well overall.. and deserve it.
But moron! For what u have said prove that Materazzi is a freaking moron that insult people's mother and family.
French are NOT BAD LOSER... but U ARE A BAD WINNER.
I really hope u are not an italian.. cos we have enough of the "black sheep" !
** FYI, I am not a French..

Zidane is the bigger man for admitting he made a mistake. IF Materazzi did indeed tell him "I hope you and your family die terrible deaths" or something similar, then It's hard for me to fault Zidane. There's a lot of trash-talking in that goes on, so I'm sure that Materazzi did say something that was truly awful. One good things is that public opinion does seem to be shifting toward Zidane now, and it's too bad he was being bashed on Monday, the day after the incident.

Zidane was sorry and so should Materazzi. If I were Zidane, I am sorry too, for not kicking his *** while he was down. Oh... how nice that would be. By the way, I definetely agree with you guys. Zidane was given the red card, and that was enough, enough!! Football is not kinda chess, idiot game. So, Zidane's 'real-time' reaction is reasonable and humanist. Thus, what we can suggest next is hard punishment for Materazzi for his insulting, provocating words on Zidane.

Materazzi will never tell the truth about what he said because he knows that will get him in a lot of trouble. I think he should be punished so that it teaches a lesson about harshly insulting people's families.
Put yourself in Zidane's shoes for a moment. Let's say your mother recently fell ill and went to the hospital. Then, while you play a soccer game, someone grabs your shirt, and you joke about it, even though you're tired, injured, and stressed about just missing a huge goal.
But then that person tells you "calm down. everyone knows you're the son of a terrorist whore. I hope your family dies a terrible death. So **** off."
Given all that, how do you think YOU would react to this? honestly! And what do you think would be the "right" thing to do?

I don't blame Zidane at all actually. I think he had every right to react that way. Anyone in his shoes would have reacted that way. It was a normal REACTION. Materazzi was the one who provoked Zidane, insulting his mom and his sister. How deceiving and stupid!
Italy should give its world cup to France right this second.

I agree with you. I mean the person who provokes everything, aren't gonna get in trouble at all. I mean I think a yellow card would be fine as long as they got some kind of warning right??? Then Zidane did not admit he was wrong but he did say he was sorry. That's all that matters to me.
