You're referring to men who still open doors for their lady and remember their birthdays and anniversary dates? The men who remember that a woman needs to be reminded how much he really cares and sends those unexpected flowers or leave the little 'i care about you' notes for her? The men who still believe in sliding the chair out for his better half when being seated at the dinner table?

You want to know what happened to the true gentlemen of the world who always knew and appreciated the fact that a good woman would make him a better man?

I'm 53 and have lived 52-1/2 of those years in the south being raised on traditional southern values. There are still true gentlemen alive out here, despite what 'someone' from Ohio seems to think. But, sometimes I think we seem to have been forgotten though in our hearts and minds chivalry, tradition and manners have not been.

I find the south rather repulsive. I don't need to have doors held open for me, and the "gentlemen" that do this are also the ones that leer at me from behind.

I like scrawny and pale intellectuals that don't workout for the purpose of looking more "manly".

I am from Ohio, and every time I travel though the south I see tattooed and drunken fat people wearing confederate flags and dirty steel toed work boots.

I can barely understand the heavy accents, especially those of the fat chain-smoking waitresses in their fifties that refer to me as "honey" or "missy" when taking my order.

The modern south does not reflect the old southern charm that is portrayed in old romantic movies and brochures.
