The Beatles, bar none. They changed music, and the way people thought about it...they were one of the first mainstream bands to experiment with their tunes, and opened doors for other great bands to do the same. All the members (excluding Ringo, lol) are extremely talented musicians/lyricists in there own rights, and all put out wicked solo stuff...I mean, come on...the music world without the songs of John Lennon and Paul McCartney?

Genre - Classical music. It has been popular for hundreds of years, and is still being produced today, so it is not a dead form. I am not a huge fan of classical music (although I like some) but is has to be the most enduring in modern history.

Band - My personal preference is the Grateful Dead. The Dead never had a #1 hit, yet sold out every concert tour they had for almost 30 years.

Bob Dylan.

So many other people in different genres of music have covered his songs. His songs transcend generations. He was a lyrical genius in the stuff he put out to the public and moved a whole generation of people to stand up for what they believed in.

*****USHER
Far beyond the extraordinary levels of success that Usher has already achieved in his meteoric rise to global superstardom as singer, composer, producer, film and television actor, businessman and philanthropist, 2004 managed to add even further levels of accomplishment to his profile. Consider the phenomenal success of his fifth album, Confessions, which (as of this writing) is certified 8-times RIAA platinum in the U.S. alone, has surpassed 11 million copies worldwide, and continues to sell about one million copies per month.
Released in March 2004, Confessions scanned a record-breaking 1.1 million units in its first week out, giving Usher his first #1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart, and his first simultaneous #1 pop/#1 R&B entry
*******JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE
As both a member of *NSYNC and a solo artist, Southern superstar Justin Timberlake has played a major role in the teen pop explosion of the '90s and 2000s. Like similar teen pop favorites -- who have included the Backstreet Boys, C-Note, Christina Aguilera, Hanson, the Spice Girls, and Britney Spears -- Timberlake usually doesn't get much respect from rock critics (who, in many cases, tend to be very alternative-minded and anti-commercialistic). Regardless, he is adored by millions of fans, many of whom have been adolescent girls. Over the years, the teen market has had a lot of different sounds.
Jive released Celebrity, *NSYNC's third album, in 2001, and after that, Timberlake started recording as a solo artist. The singer had performed live as a solo artist before *NSYNC, but it wasn't until the early 2000s that he actually recorded an album as a solo act. Justified, Timberlake's first solo album, was released on Jive in November 2002. "Like I Love You," the album's first single, became a major hit and was followed by a second single, "Cry Me a River" (not to be confused with the melancholy Arthur Hamilton standard that was a hit for the late jazz singer/actress Julie London in 1955). ~ Alex Henderson, All Music Guide
