He can't go wrong wearing a suit. It is better to be overdressed...can always remove the coat during the interview.

i think either one would probably be fine. if it's going to be hot/humid then maybe throw on the suit to keep sweat from showing or stick with the shirt and tie to keep cooler (just with a clean t-shirt underneath). good luck to you both!
