Maybe they'll close, maybe not. The park actually makes good money. That's not the problem. The problem is that Six Flags (the company that owns the park) is very deep in debt, and bleeding cash to make the payments. Also, Six Flags is trying to cultivate a more Disney-fied family image, and Magic Mountain, with all the wild roller coasters attracts rowdy teens. So, the place is for sale.

It could go to another theme park operator, in which case it would remain open, or it could go to a real estate developer, in which case it would shut down and be turned into houses. This could happen because the value of the land they're on may be higher than the value of the profits the park can make. I've also heard a story that it might be sold to an oil company, but that's not confirmed. If it goes to an oil company, it might or might not remain open (they could do slant drilling underneath without disturbing the rides if there's oil down there). Stay tuned.

This is what I found:

"On June 22, 2006 Six Flags, Inc. announced that it was exploring options for six of its parks, including Magic Mountain and its neighboring water park, Hurricane Harbor, that could involve selling the park with possibility of selling to real estate developers, with an intent to close the park and build housing developments in the area.[1] Park officials cite dwindling attendance and rowdy behavior among park-goers (notably teenagers and young adults, who account for a large percentage of the parks attendace). Recent statistics say the park's attendance has declined by 19 percent from a year ago[citation needed], despite the recent opening of Tatsu, a high-speed roller-coaster at the park."

I hope not. I haven't been there in years but they are always fun. But yeah there are too many punks and gang bangers there. Always some shootings of somekind.

Been there at least 10 times in my lifetime. And each time was great.
