I don't find any of these answers acceptable. You are all concentrated on the face of hammer and not the hammer itself. You've always got fanatics to utilize - terrorism is big business including big business for the US. I was looking for answers as to chop the legs economically vs. philosophically. You all missed understanding the question. Or that I apoligize for not asking correctly thus wasting everyones' time.

Former Los Angeles Police Chief Daryl Gates once said, back during the days when Hijackers were taking over airplanes, that we should have a bus with 12 people, a judge and a rope on the back and park it at the airport, then dispence justice on the spot to the Hijackers as the FBI escorts them off the plane.

You know what happened after he said that? He lost his job because of all the liberals complaing about his statement.

So, now you know what CAN'T be done. Saddam will have a three year old trial, get appeals, etc.

I once joked that if Hitler was caught, his ACLU attorney would get him off and he'd go on the college circuit as a lecuturer and make bags full full of money.

One thing we can do is what OPEC is doing. Let's raise the price of Gun Powder to $50,000 an ounce.

Let's raise the price of Nitrogen Fertilizer to $50,000 an ounce.

Lets' raise the price of Ammonium to $50,000 an ounce.

Lets' raise the price of an AK47 to $2,000,000 each.

Now, terrorism ceases to be PROFITABLE.

By refusing to give into fear -EVER. The whole point of terrorism is to bring about political change through striking terror into the hearts of your enemy. Do not give into terror and you will defeat terrorism. Hunt down the terrorists wherever they are and never blink. One of the biggest problems we have right now is all of the people who would seek peace at ANY price. We may find a short lived peace that way, but we will never find freedom that way. I think "Give me liberty or give me death" sums it up nicely.

Short of stop caring about the deaths of people, I do not see how to stop terrorism from being profitable. Terrorist are trying to gain power by taking control of countries through the death of others.

I don't really think most terrorists are out to make a profit, but to make a point. So making terrorism unprofitable wouldn't bother them, it's not like they're getting paid for it now.

Develop a substitute for oil. In a few years, the oil rich countries will go back to trying to scrape out an existence in the middle of the desert. We ought to knock out all of the oil refineries, too.
