i noticed my niece typing this way to me along time ago? she is very intelligent, so i figured there must be some intelligent reason for this. while i am asking what might seem like a stupid, elementary question to some....i am new to yahoo today. how do people get those little icon-looking pictures in their photo id box? and what is this about adding my question to messenger status? (if i get answers to some of these, i might start being a little educated soon.)

While typing all text in UPPERCASE is considered as shouting and therefore bad etiquette, I am not so sure about everything having to be in lowercase. Although as pointed out by "meow" it is much easier to type in rather than pressing the shift-key to capitalize letters.

the lower case question - lower case is better to use because it takes less time to type lower case. if you'll notice, everything about chatting etc is about minimisation, e.g. brb means be right back, lol means laugh out loud, so shortcuts make it easier.

if you want to make yourself an avatar (icon), go to: http://avatars.yahoo.com// and make one for yourself. then, to add it to your profile on yahoo answers, go to your personal account, click on "edit my profile" and choose your pic (the avatar will immediately come up).

When you are on yahoo messenger you can add your question, so people you are chatting to can see your Yahoo answers question, and answer it.

If you like for your sentences to look like they are supposed to, type like this. if you want them to look like you are a third grader and you don't know how to punctuate then write like this. It's that simple, in my humble, well-educated opinion.
