Abortion is the result of a society of greed. The underlying cause of abortion is that society would rather leave a child on the street than give the resources needed to raise any child.
Because of it a person who isn't ready to raise a child would rather get rid of the pregnancy than be pregnant in conditions they would rather not be pregnant in. Note that it is more often the pregnancy that is a problem in their eyes.
What are the conditions they would not be pregnant in?
- A religion that says you must be married to get pregnant. Catholics are still this way.
- A society that says single parents are bad. True in parts of the US
- A society that believes in punishing the poor. Something like one in 11 families skip meals to feed their children in the US.
These are the underlying causes of abortion. They are the causes that noone cares about. Therefore abortion will always be existing in the US in some form. If doctors don't perform it, woman may inject household chemicals into the fetus to cause a miscarriage, or damage the fetus using wire.
Abortion is bad because it results in the termination of a pregnancy. However legalities won't stop it.

The biological world is centered around one thing --- procreation. The purpose of living for lower life forms in the natural world is to survive long enough and healthy enough to spawn another generation. Humans are engineered for the same purpose (biologically speaking), but have this funny thing called free will that allows them to act against instinct or just ignore instinct. This can be both good and bad. Obviously, if we followed instinct all the time, then civilization would not exist.
If we ignore religious views for a minute and try to come up with a general measure of what is "good", we can use the example of nature and say that anything which fosters the process of generating new life is good.
By that measure, abortion would not be good. I didn't say it was murder, just that it isn't good. Even if a fetus is not a fully aware human being, destroying life that would become a new generation is not good, so abortion is not good. I don't think that anyone can argue the act of abortion on its own is a good thing. It may save the life of the mother, or prevent an unwed mother from being beaten or exiled in some cultures, which are good results. However, they are good results from something that is intrinsically not good no matter how you slice it. Again, I'm not saying that it should be considered murder or even outlawed, just that the act itself is not good as it destroys life that would become a new generation.
When considering legal aspects of abortion, we have to remember that anything which prevents an individual from excercising their free will is an act of violence in the philosophical sense. So, if women are forced to have abortions against their will in China, that is clearly an act of violence. By the same token, forcing women to carry children and give birth against their will is also an act of violence. Neither one is very appealing.
Finally, moral good can only be achieved through the excercise of free will. Doing something because you have to has no moral value at all. If anyone is really concerned about bringing glory to God, then they should be focussed on spreading ideas and thoughts that lead individuals to freely make the right decision, not forcing them to act one way or another through civil laws.

why is abortion a bad thing? wow this isnt a question i should be answering. i am extremely pro-life. like you have no idea. ok there are many reasons why abortion is a bad thing.
1- you are KILLING an innocent life. yes, a fetus is living. it has a heartbeat and everything. its alive.
2- it could lead to damage to the mother, possible causing her unable to be pregnant again.
3- would you want someone else choosing whether you live or die and they ultimately choosing death?? i didnt think so.
4- you are depriving an innocent person if life, just to make yourself more comfortable. very not fair.
5- there are other things to do besides abortion. if you dont want the child, or you cant due to whatever reason...its called adoption! if you dont want to go through the pregnancy, you should have thought of that when you were having sex and KNEW of the possibility that you might get pregnant
6- dont tell me that rape excuse. yes its a horrific act and the guy raping a woman should be neutered and killed, but its something called the morning after pill! to prevent such things from happening. and you have up to 3 [?] days to take it so if you dont, you made your desicion.
7- its morally wrong to be killing anyone! let alone an infant-to-be.
those are my reasons why abortion is bad. hope that helped

I'm pro-life. When having an abortion you are putting stop on God's' creation(whatever god you worship). Also...Who's to say that the woman has to take care of the child. with the proper process, custody of the child could do to the father. I believe that fathers have a 50% say so in a decision like that.(Even though is some families the fathers are barely around and active 25%) The key thing is...if you don't want a child....DON"T HAVE SEX. Because it may benefit you....but think about the others that it effect.

1-Cytotec (misoprostol) is contraindicated, because of its abortifacient property, in women who are pregnant. ( See PRECAUTIONS.) Patients must be advised of the abortifacient property.
misoprostol is one of the 2 active drugs in the morning after pill. I was given this drug by my doctor when I was in labor with my youngest child. I nearly lost her because of this. If the morning after pill didn't exist, neither me or my daughter would have even had to risk our lives.
The is no such thing as an unwanted baby, only unwanted pregnancies. I believe all women should have a choice. Did you know that ALL fetuses are female in the beginning? Their female, shouldn't they be able to decide if they live or die?
"I'm pro choice becuase I feel that my opinion should not have an effect on someone else life" It's funny that you say that because choosing abortion causes an innocent child to lose THEIR life. Abortion affects their life. It stops their life. Sorry if you don't understand all this, but I just found the information on this drug tonight. I'm still kind of upset that I nearly lost my child because of it. I feel very strongly about life. There really is no such thing as pro-choice; it's pro-life and anti-life.

It's murder because the mother is choosing killing her child. (Yes, I know there are "exception" abortions)
Sorry - but opinions often do affect someone else's life, namly the life of the baby in this case.

ABORTION In Catholic morality, abortion is both direct (precipitated) or oblique. Direct abortion is any destruction of the manufactured from human theory, no matter if before or after implantation contained in the womb. a right away abortion is one it is meant both as an bring about itself or as a frame of mind to an end. As a willful attack on unborn human existence, no remember what the reason, direct abortion is continually a grave purpose evil. oblique abortion is the foreseen yet only approved evacuation of a fetus that could not live to inform the tale outdoors the womb. The evacuation isn't the meant or instantly willed result, in spite of the indisputable fact that the aspect result, of a few valid technique. As such it truly is morally allowable. the mandatory sinfulness of direct abortion is composed contained in the homicidal reason to kill innocuous existence. This ingredient places the controverted question as to exactly even as human existence starts, outdoors the ambit of the moral issue; because it also makes the now frequently held Catholic position that human existence starts at theory both outdoors the middle of the church's training about the grave sinfulness of direct abortion. Abortion has been condemned by technique of the Church considering apostolic circumstances. The training of the Twelve Apostles, composed before A.D. one hundred, informed the committed "You shall no longer procure abortion. You shall no longer damage a newborn baby" (II, 2). Direct abortion and infanticide were from the starting up placed on an similar element of malice. thousands of ecclesiastical files from the first century by potential of to the modern testify to an similar moral doctrine, with such nuances as time, position, and circumstances indicated. the 2d Vatican Council declared: "existence should be secure with the utmost care from the prompt of theory," so as that "abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes" (structure on the Church contained in the favorite international, IV, fifty one). Pope Paul VI shown this training in 1974. "comprehend for human existence,' he wrote, "is called for from the time that the technique of era starts. From the time that the ovum is fertilized, a existence is all started it truly is neither that of the daddy nor of the mother. it truly is amazingly the existence of a sparkling individual with its personal boom. it may under no circumstances be made human if it were no longer human already." therefore, "divine regulation and organic reason exclude all top to the direct killing of an innocuous individual" (statement on Procured Abortion, III, 12).

Abortion is killing a life that never had a chance to live. Imagine if your mother had killed you off before you were born. Even a little fetus is a living, breathing thing. It has a heart. It may not have a face or limbs, yet.

It's murder. Plain and simple. Just because a baby isn't living outside of it's mother's womb, doesn't mean it isn't a person.
If you are looking for an answer to your question....think about this...
What if YOUR mother had had an abortion when she got pregnant with you???
There's your answer.
