If you want to complete the marathon distance, you can always walk all the way to the finish line if you can't run anymore. Most marathon race do have half distances and organisers may provide chartered vehicles to transport those who completed half marathon to the finishing point (where the carnival is). You can always stop there. Any where in between when you decide not to run or walk to the finishing point, you could take the public transport. But by doing so, you may not even have the finisher medal/certificates. So really took this last course, you have to bring along sufficient money for the ride on the public transport.

Most marathons have a 'lag wagon' that will pick you up if you cant make it. But it usually goes after all the competitors, which can be very slow. After 10 miles you could end up waiting an hour or more for it to come by.

If you are really injured or hurt, they will bring in an ambulance and get you off the course immediately.

If you cant finish, you walk to the end. Sorry, Ive never been in a marathon where they pick you up if you dont finish. If you pass out, thats a different story!!
