When I play a DVD the picture is sometimes a little jerky if I use other programs. Is this a memory issue (I have 512 meg of ram) or is it a processor problem?

Short answer, yes you could need more ram. You might have an integrated graphics card that "shares (uses)" your computer 512 Mg's of ram. Simple fix, is to buy a graphics card, the card has it's own processor and ram. You can buy them at Walmart, Circuit City, etc. The prices range from about $70 to $300 plus, depending on what you want to speed. I would go for a cheap card if you only look at DVDs. Before you go shopping you will have to check inside your computer to ensure you have a slot to put the card in, and what type of slots are available. There are two types of slots for graphics cards, AGP (a brown slot), and PCI (white in color). Of course you could add more ram, but again check there is an open space to put it.

I get this problem when I burn my own DVDs, but not with real DVDs. It always work fine on my DVD player though (the one hooked up to the TV)
