I believe that some people are naturally gay and others choose. Peoples preferences are what they are not so much what we choose them to be. I don't choose to be attracted to men; I just am. However, if I was with a woman and had a great experience, I might choose to be bi-sexual. =)
I've had dreams of being with a woman sexually and a man (not necessarily same time) and I really don't see myself going down town on a woman.

I've never had a sexual dream involving a woman, even when I was a teen and had sexual dreams all the times, no matter how many times I j**k*d off during the day. My dreams of an intimate nature have always been other males.

PS In regard to Godlovesmommas above -- I do not want to offend you -- however, you are wrong. Judaism very much did, for a very long time -- exactly what the law said. Children were stoned to death routinely, for many things. Ultra orthodox Jews today still try stoning people under certain circumstances -- it was, indeed, the intent of the scriptures that you are trying to soft-pedal.
Likewise, Islam. The 19th of next week is the first anniversary of the death of two teenage boys in Iran who were hung for homosexuality. When the world reacted with rage the government of Iran claimed that the actual reason was that they raped a younger boy -- however, such charges were NOT mentioned before, nor used in the trial -- and independent investigation has since revealed that all of the boys' same -age friends knew they were lovers, and no one believes that the deaths related to anything but the fact that they were lovers. It turns out that a member of one of the families who disapproved, revealed them to the government so the government would kill them. Captured at 16 and 14, held for 18 months and tortured, given 228 lashes each, and then hung.
I do not believe that Biblical behavior is any different. Believing in bronze age myths leads to such behavior and such hate.
It is unfortunate. One does not need the myths to be a Christian. I believe in Christ. I consider the Bible, with its errors in history, science, and mathematics, to be a joke.
Be well.

I tend to think of homosexuality as an indicator that past-lives are real. Now, before you start casting stones, let me explain why.
If there is any truth to a spiritual being living beyond body-death to take on another body, then it is certainly possible that we would begin to see a patern over time that would indicate what works best for us and what doesn't.
So, if you found that you worked best in relationships with women, and then were to find yourself in a new lifetime using a woman's body, it would indeed (per your question) be natural to feel an inclination to adopt a lifestyle that would fascilitate having a relationship with another woman. Even if society as a whole rejected the relationship, you would feel that it was right for you, because your past history proved it was better than the alternative. It would feel comfortable, "right".

dreaming about people of the same sex has more to do with a personal reflection of something in your life than the actual act of being with a same sex partner. The other person is a reflection of you.
In the bible, they never say being gay is unnatural, they say acting on those impulses, and abusing the gift of sex is against god's law. The wording has to be taken in context. Of course God doesn't actually want you to stone your baby to death. What a terrible way to portray such a valuable life lesson. He wants you to teach your children how to live happy lives. God helps you with all your problems. Being an alcoholic is natural. People are born alcoholics. But not every alcoholic conitunues to drink their whole life. Its hard, but they choose a different path.
Why is it that all of the sudden its okay to be a christian basher?

Homosexuality has been proven and accepted as being something that a child is born with. You cannot cure it, nor is it a choice or mental illness. Loving those that are the same sex as you hurts no one, and the religious fanatics that think otherwise are disturbed and dangerous to the mental health of others.
The bible condemns homosexuality in the same section as it condemns eating shellfish and says to stone your children to death if they don't respect and obey you. No sane person stones their children to death when they won't pick up their toys, why condemn complete strangers for a completely natural love?

I know I did not choose to be gay. I am choosing to act on that emotion later I life, but I didn’t choose to have the desire for other men. I’m not saying some guy didn’t choose to be gay, but I know I didn’t, and it aggravates me when people generalize, and say that all gays are chosen. I mean, it goes against all logic for me to choose to be gay. My family are devout Christians, I live in the bible belt, I’m surrounded by homophobic people, and above all else, all my life people have told me that gay is chosen, and wrong. I know that I didn’t choose to be this way, because it’s destroying my relationship with my parents, and friends, and family having this huge thing I have to hide from them because they would see it as something bad…. My point is, I know I didn’t choose this “path” I guess you could call it. I just want to be happy, but I want my family to be happy, and love me too, and it’s like an oxymoron, because for one to happen, the other cant. Anyways, yeah, that’s what I think, oh, and I did have a dream that a girl wanted to sleep with me. But I must be gay asleep too, because it totally grossed me out, and I hid from her in a big shoe….yeah, it was defiantly a dream. But I have deamth about guys, qutie a bit to tell the truth......

I think its a subconcious thing. Im heterosexual and very rarely have i had a dream about someone of the same sex. I think if you were secretly attracted to someone of the opposite sex and thought about it sometimes when you were awake then you would probably dream about it too.

I'm not sure. I'd probably guess yes but I don't think any definite predictions can come from dreams alone.
