12 is an open or shorted circuit detected in the evaporative purge solenoid control circuit.

42 is oxygen sensor 2 bank 1 input voltage sustained at higher than normal operating range

55 is flex fuel sensor input below minimum tolerances

after 1996 all cars are obd II and should be a 5 digit code starting with 1 letter. so some body is wrong. If you jeep has the gm engine management then 12 is a reference point in the diagnostic steps. it means the beginning or end of the cycle. if you jeep has the chrysler engine management then code 55 means the end of the diagnostic cycle.

12 means it's thinking. 42 and 55 can be looked up in the manual. Most likely the O2 sensor and maybe a lean fuel mixture code. Don't you just love computers in cars. Good luck.
