Learn to write well and think critically (not a skills often taught in schools these days) and read, read, read. Do well in college and major it something that will develop the two skills already mentioned. Also, the better your LSAT score, the more likely you will get into a good law school. Oh, and did I mention you should read a lot?:)

You can't apply to law school yet, but you can get into a 3-3 program when you start college. This is where you do three years as an undergraduate and then go directly to Law School. Your first year as a law student counts as your final year of undergrad. 6 years total. There aren't a lot of these programs, but there are a few so it's worth checking out when you're making your college choice. Some that I've heard of:

The University of Pittsburgh has a 3/3 program with itself. You major in any subject in the depts. of Arts & Science.

New Jersey Institute of Technology has a program where you major in a science area and then transfer to Seton Hall for Law School.

Drake University has a program with itself where you major in Business.

University of the Pacific (which is in Stockton, CA) has a program with itself; but the Law School is located quite a ways away in Sacramento, CA).

Texas Tech has a program through their honors college with itself.

And, my alma mater, Stephens College, a women's college, has a 3-3 program with the University of Missouri.

Your best bet is to focus on the liberal arts right now. You will need a 4 year bachelor's degree to attend law school. Your major can be anything that you like. I recommend a major in English, or anything else that requires a lot of reading. You will definately be reading long, boring books in law school.

What is required, aside from a willingness to borrow $150k, is a 4-year degree and a good LSAT score. (That's Law School Admission Test.) A good score is over 155. For now, though, worry about college, and be sure to pick this as best answer. I am a lawyer, and I'm hoping to pay off my student loans with Yahoo points.

Law school requires a 4 year degree. You can find most requirements listed at any web site. Click "Admissions" or "application." For example, www.johnmarshall.edu.

Contact your local community college, take a course or two during the summer months to get started with college credit.
