I hope I will not draw the ire of anyone, but this query can be sensitive.

I have noticed the young female of many species, cats, dogs, humans, tigers, lions, etc, seem to like to be loved and wanted. This is quite different from the male of the species.

My family has a few rabbits at home and it seems that the young female is the one that likes to be cuddled all the time. Likewise, my female dog likes to get all the attention from us. She makes all kinds of wild happy expressions when she sees us in the morning or when we return from work.

I do agree my other male dogs also feel happy to welcome back their owner, but the kind of expression my young female makes is really different. It is like it wants to be loved and cuddled, like my rabbit.

Likewise, my daughter also shows signs she wants to get all the warmth and love she wants to get. She wants the love from her daddy and mummy. I noticed she is the one who spends more time with mummy, This is quite different from

boy who prefers to play with our neighbours's kids and his school friends than stay at home.

As a guy, I cannot help but noticed this strange behaviour.

My mother said this is atypcial of young girls and the young female of the species.

She also further said this may also be the reason why some girls are so gullible and fall in love with guys, even strangers.

On this point, I agree with her to a certain extent. I remembered in my yonger days, while I may have crushes on certain girls, I never really fall for them. This is especially so if I know they are impossible to get, just like a celebrity I got to meet in a meeting organised by her organisers.

Hey, I hope you don't feel offended. But why do the young female of most species seem to behave like that?

i have also worked in a zoo temporary before, and according to my colleague, he said the young elephant is the one that needs to be taken care of most as she really wants all the attention she can get.

Hey, I really noticed the difference. Why is it like that?

There is an old saying in psychology, "We give our boys wings and our daughters roots." (Not trying to take any credit, but I don't know the author). Women are emotional and men are physical. Cuddling for a woman is truly more emotional. We relate that to love. Females are the ones who generally raise the young. It is in our biology to cuddle and nurture. A man's biology is to protect and feed. This accumulates to leaving the home, hunting in pacts, and being on guard.
Here's another one , "Men spread widely...Woman spread wisely." (Once again I'm clueless on the author). I guess these types of instincts are what ensure a species survival.

A lot of these answers just reiterate your question. Not to be mean, but they don't really answer the question you present. In a study of human sexuality, it was found that there are always some in either gender that do not fit in with the rest as far as behavioral patterns go. Yet, for the most part, men were considered to be not only more inclined to defend and fight, but physically stronger, taller, and bigger than most women, comparatively, on average. It seems that in all species, not just human, the urge to procreate is helped along by attraction. In a world where the men are the ones who pursue the women, confrontation is inevitable. Besides the tell-tale markings and scent difference between male and female, behavioral differences also made and still do make it apparent who is female and who is male; who is friendly and willing to mate and who wants to be a contender. When those who are attractive to the opposite sex mate, and have babies, these physical traits as well as learned traits which later aid those offspring to attract a mate are passed on. Eventually there will be more (marginally)attractive people or animals than unattractive ones. At least in the animal world, those that are not physically attractive are also ill and should not procreate anyway. It's ingrained in us to be with those who don't seem threatening. Comparatively, we are inclined to provide for and look after those who seem to not be as able as we are to survive (women are seen as not as strong as men, so men want to protect and provide for them typically). It's the same reason why babies in all species of creatures are cute. It ensures that they grow to a proper age where they can take care of themselves without being killed or eaten by their own parents or other members of the community, as the young are generally helpless and a burden when trying to take care of yourself.

With people, and I imagine it's the same with animals, the women are the ones with the nurturing aspect. They are more emotionally inclined, less likely to be physically aggressive and more inclined to be physically affectionate. Practicing it throughout life assists girls in becoming women and caretakers. Basically, we're designed to be that - caretakers. We have bigger and better emotional capabilities and needs than men do. That's my thought anyway.

I would imagine that need is implanted in female DNA so that we have something that draws us to procreate with the males of this planet. Because, be honest, otherwise we might all be lesbians...what with men and their general hairy issues and ritual smelliness.

i guess we wanna be loved like u said. u always want the best guy for urself or picture him as the best guy when u see him. we're just sensitive and we need like to be catered to. we like guys and our family to take care of us and protect us. becuz when some guy that u don't like is tryin to get with u or tryin to feel u or whatever you usually rely on ur brothers or cousins that r boys. i know i feel that way becuz i know my boy cousins, i have no brothers, will protect me and help me if i need help.
