I have a 1992 BMW 325i series and it is an automatic. The car drives well most of the time but now it will not shift out of 1st gear it seems most of the time? HELP!!!

Ca you tell me what a solenoid is and where the tranny fluid located?

On that car the fluid was lifetime. You have to get the car in the air to check the level. Go to a BMW shop. Trans work is never easy. You could have a stuck solenoid you could have a valve body that's dirty, sorry but its best to go to a trusted shop.

Check the transmission fluid. If that is full, there may be a bad solenoid on the transmission.

if your trans fluid is full the next step is to smell the tranny fluid and see if it smells burnt more than likely it seems your trans may be bad

i would start by checking the transmission fluid, if thats not it the solenoid, then if all else fails it's the torque convertor.
