He does not regret what he did, he apologized to the fans for his lack of conduct, especially to the children. But he said that he would have rather got punched than hear what Materazzi told him. There's a big difference between apologizing and regretting. He says he does not regret it! Materazzi deserves what he got. Materazzi says he didn't insult him about his mother because he lost his at the age of 15, he says he didn't call him the son of a terrorist, he didn't call him a terrorist, that he doesn't even know what an Islamic Terrorist is. HA! What ever Materazzi! It doesn't matter what he said, he insulted Zidane and for that, he got what he deserved. Because he admits that he insulted him, he just says he didn't insult him about his family or calling him a terrorist. Either way Zidane DOES NOT REGRET what he did. I have forgiven him (Zidane) for what he did, I have accpeted it and that will not tarnish his memory or legacy in my mind.

If you read your own link, you would see that it says "An apology, but no regrets and no detailed explanation on what set him off. "
Besides he said that to regret what he did would mean that he agrees with what the provoker said, which he doesn't!

He doesn't regret head butting the whole incident started when the were grabbing each others shirts.Zidane must of said something to Materrazzi and Materazzi said something back to him.Zidane was fustrated that earlier on he didn't score,so he took it on Materrazzi.
