Chinatown to buy swords your best bet is to walk down broadway just north of Cesar E chavez Ave and there are quite a few stores that sell them there as well as some fireworks. For clothes i would advise you to go to the Fashoin distrct about 2miles from China town start off in the Alleys near 7th street and Santee,

There is a pedestrian mall type area between Broadway and Hill right around Alpine St. Tons of cheesy/kitchy/fun stores as well as some great bars.
