I have been with my boyfriend for almost 4 years. We lived together for the second and third year and then he was promoted for work and had to move 5 hours away. I didn
t want him to move. I feel abandoned and hurt because this long distance thing is really not working for me. I feel like he is the love of my life but I feel that distance is just not a good thing and that communicating mainly on the phone now isn't the best for me since neither of us are phone people. He even asked me to marry him but because of his work and financial situation it seems that he just doesn't seem ready to get married. Also, I want kids now and although we used to talk about a life together since he moved he doesn't vocalize his goals with me anymore. I love when we are together most weekends but then during the week when we talk on the phone or email we just can't communicate properly and spend most of our phone calls arguing.I feel the disntance has closed him off and changed him.

In my humble opinion... I think you should hang in there for at least a while longer and see if it can get better. If he has asked you to marry him, he obviously loves you a lot and is most likely willing to work to make things work out, as that is a big part of marriage. Long distance relationships are hard, but I'm sure he didn't mean to abandon you and that it was a hard decision for him too. I think you should vocalize to him what you've just said to us and see what he says. Take it from there. But it seems a shame that such a long (and from what I understand, mostly good) relationship might be ruined by something like that.
