I made a hotel reservation in May for my July vacation. I cancelled the reservation in May (same month) and got the cancellation confirmation #. However, I just found out my credit card was being charged the no show fee by the hotel. Unfortunately, I lost the cancellation confirmation# (two months already). Honestly, I did cancell the reservation back in May. My question is how can I get refund without the cancellation confirmation#?? Your soonest response is highly appreciated. Thanks

Your only hope is to call the hotel and explain this and hope they are in a nice mood. Since they have no record of your cancellation and neither do you, it is very hard to prove that your call cancelling the trip ever happend. You might be able to have your credit card step in and dispute the charge but as soon as the hotel says there is no cancellation on record, the dispute will probably get overturned. I'm sorry to give you the bad news but when you lost the cancellation number you lost your only proof that you ever cancelled.

Write a letter directly to the hotel and complain. Admit you lost the number but "I didn't think I was dealing with an incompetent hotel chain" so I didn't keep it. etc etc. The written letter will get a response.
