I got a cashiering job at Wal-Mart a few weeks ago & have enjoyed working w/the customers. Problem is the management couldn't care less about their employees. (Example: Yesterday I stepped on a nail and it went about an inch into the arch of my foot (OUCH!). Today I still couldn't walk and went to the Dr. for a tetanus shot and to have it looked it. Was told not to work tonight since I stand at a register for 6 hrs/night. I called mgmt and asked if I could use a stool @ my register so I could still work. They said "absolutely not" since I hadn't hurt myself at work & it wasn't a worker's comp issue. They told me to just "lean" for the night. So I took the night off without pay. Gees!
The new Target opening soon is hiring cashiers. Does anyone know if they treat their employees better? I've never worked in a place where the employees are treated like this.
I've looked *everywhere* for an evening typing position w/no luck. The work @ home jobs just seem like scams to me.

I would give Target a try but you never know. No matter where you work there's always gonna be at least one pitiful excuse for a manager.

I worked for Super Target for two years and, for the most part, they treated me well. They have great benefits and seem to take better care of their folks. A lot of the people I worked with came over from Wal-Mart. The sad part is retail is pretty cut throat where ever you go. I have came across a lot of bad stories, but
there are a lot of positives as well. Target gives you a lot of oppurtunities and has a good Human Resources Hotline. Good luck.

I don't know but my brother used to work at Wal-Mart. First as
a cashier which he hated and then as a buggie pusher. They
wouldn't let him have breaks even during the summer yet all the
other buggie pushers just sat around and nothing was ever said
to them. I don't know much about Target but they seem more
relaxed than Wal-Mart. The cashiers don't appear to be over
worked or stressed out at all.

Join the club, I worked at Wal-Mart for 8 months until I was fired for being on camera smoking pot. They even refused to show me the video. Even worse I have had 30 drug tests at least and all have been negative cause I'm not on drugs. Go to Target, Anything is better than Wal-Mart

Yeah, there are very few typing jobs anymore. I don't know how Target treats its employess, but I really love their stuff way better than Walmart, so if you get a discount when you work there, that would be a good thing. I hope your foot gets better anyway.

The only place that actually advertises their good treatment of employees, that converts into good customer service is Southwest Airlines, hopefully you have one near you! But, yeah, I'd say go to Target and try them out, "just lean" is very insensitive...

ohh...that's awful how the manager of wal mart treat you....i would suggest quit because of that reason and try out target....what that manager did was soooo awful.....could you try transferring to another wal mart? maybe another manager wouldn't be so mean.....or if the location would be a bother, i would say just apply at target....

Around here, Target stores are more appealing. Workers appear more cheerful. My vote is Target.

Retail sucks. I doubt it would be much different. But, it never hurts to try somewhere else? Maybe you can get a higher wage there? Go ahead and apply.
