I just reinstalled widows os, on new hard drive and new board. Windows locks up mouse freezes. Powers up but occasionally freezes. Did this with another MB and raid hard drives. Only thing in common on both systems, CPU, Power supply, and video card. It's driving me nuts.

Hey Puppy!! "Ita" Looks "a-lika" you have the classic OVERHEATING "problema"!! No matter what you add, put on, change or whatever, If you are using the same old fans, and/or you have dust or dirt on everything, you have HEAT!!! It may not seem important, but it's MAJOR!! This is a major problem that is always overlooked. Try cooling down your system more & you will see a difference. Take the hose on the vaccume and suck out all that dust!! If your fans are slow or not cooling enough, replace them or add more!! Puta.

Yeah, I seriously just had this problem. Computer wouldn't even turn on. I had to get a new mother board; guy said a power surge had fried it. As it turns out, the power supply hadn't been damaged (but he initially thought it had, which is why I said yes to your question), but he replaced it anyway when he replaced my m/b. Sucks too because I even have a surge protector. Sigh.

Assuming you're correct that it isn't a heat problem, it can really only be two things: memory or power supply. Download SpeedFan: http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php and have it open (running) while you are doing something that uses alot of processor power. Watch your cpu temp. and your voltages, it's more than likely one of the two.

If neither are the problem, there's a very good chance that its your memory. Download this, and run it overnight: http://hcidesign.com/memtest/download.html and it will tell you if you're having memory problems.
