I`ve seen people on beaches and in the parks, etc. with those precious metal detectors and wondered if they were finding anything worth their while, so one day I asked one fella who was pretty busy at it, and he politely answered: "not yet." so I`m just curious to know if there`s anyone out there who has. and what?

Oh , by the way they're not geiger counters. They are as you say in the details just metal detectors. Geiger counters are used to detect radioactivity.
My dad used to do this 20+ years ago and actually would find a few semi-precious coins once in a while. Like old silver dollars and quarters. He'd go to a park right smack in the middle of a pretty well developed suburban area near Chicago called York Woods.

Metal detector, Sweetie. But, yeah, I found a 14 K gold ring with a 1/2 C diamond a long time ago. Turned out to be worth about 500 bucks. Kept it until my house burned down and it burned with it.

Oh, you mean metal detector. Don't know. Don't have one.

Have heard stories about people finding VERY EXPENSIVE wedding rings and watches however.
