Celebrities get free stuff from companies that want them to endorse the company's products.

They want non-celebrities to see the "stars" wearing (or eating, drinking, etc.) these products to, ideally, make the non-celebrities go out and buy it for themselves.

It's supposed to make the average Joe feel like, "Well if [celebrity name] uses it, it must be good because I like his/her [music, movies, athletic abilities, etc]."

because, the companies that give out all that free stuff know that at least a small percentage of the public want to be just like the celebrities that they see on tv and in movies. So, the thinking behind swag(free stuff) is that the celebrities will be seen with the stuff, and then we(the public) will go out and buy those things.

It's like free advertising.

It is ridiculous, I read that the gift bags at the Oscars or golden globeswere filled with 80,000 worth of gifts. People at these soirees can buy all they want, One of these rich celebrities should stand up and have the kehoonas to start giving them away

its to do with advertising. Advertisers think that if members of the public see Celebrity X wearing their product item Y, members of the public wow Item Y is cool I must get it, if you think about it, Z amount of members of the public buying item Y which Celebrity X endorsed will yeild more then having X pay for Y and Z not giving a damn.,..

Because it increases the company's sales if a hot celebrity it wearing or carries their products. For some reason people want to be like celebrities, so they buy what they have. Envy.

That is the way life is wierd isn't it. If I were that rich I would not want or expect free gifts.. I would like to be more like giving stars like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. All I can say is that they ae very selfish, and they will get theirs' in the end.

Did you just watch Cheyenne? I was wondering this myself, why she got all of that stuff. I guess it's because the brand name that she is wearing wants to get recognized as being worn by somebody "cool". Granted, not all of them need anything that badly, but it's one of the perks to being a celebrity. I mean, Cheyenne got, what, 20 bathing suits? Who needs that many?

Because, when the celebrities wear it then all the little people go out and buy it. So for every one they give away they get like 1000 people who wouldn't have bought it before, rushing out to get it.

if they didn't get free stuff in the first place...then they wouldn't be rich because they would've had to spend their money on the stuff they are getting for free
