You'll know you're in love when:
** you can't think of anything or anyone but that person
** your stomach feels like it's turning inside out but you don't feel sick to your stomach
** your head is in the clouds 24/7
** you can't sleep, you can't eat, and there's nothing your brother/sister/mother/father/best friend can do to make you do either
** you want to listen to love songs, regardless of the genre of music you regularly listen to... they all sound good and speak to your soul
** you want to wear makeup even if you normally don't and you want to smell good even if you normally don't (or if you're a guy, you want to take more showers, usually cold... LOL!)
** you find yourself wanting to write poetry even if you've never even READ a poem before
** everywhere you look, you see that person's face
** every time the phone rings, you hope it's that person

Even though it isn't the answer you want to hear; I have to say to you that you wouldn't be asking this question if you were truly in love. It's the most wonderful feeling in the world; it usually sweeps you off your feet, catches you by surprise, and you don't have to think twice about it.
Real love can take time to fully develop and often only happens when you take the time to get to really know someone...but there is no accounting for that mystical magical first blush of Love. I'm sorry to tell you that it isn't always the real thing. A lot of people confuse "In lust" with "In Love." But if the other person makes your heart sing and you feel real joy in being with this person, then it safe to say you are in Love.
I also believe it is often how the other person makes you feel about yourself. How do they treat you, for example? Real love lasts a life-time, doesn't hurt, and is a joyful thing.
Does this help you any?

How does one know when he/she is in love? That's like the million dollar question. Argubly one of the most asked questions in the history of all questions. And yet, no one can give a definite reply to it. Hence whatever I'm gonna say is based on my own past experience. Here goes:
You know you're in love when all you do is think about that particular person. He/she creeps into your mind when you're doing the most normal stuff like eating or walking.
You know you're in love when you keep checking your MSN, Mobile (insert whatever applicable) to see if that someone messages you.
You know you're in love when you so nervous and excited that you keep trying to rephrase your replies on MSN, Mobile, etc to make it sound better.
You know you're in love when you try to sound nochalant, like you don't really care when he/she talks to you online or in person but in fact your heart is beating wildly.
You know you're in love when you get disappointed when that person doesn't turn up for group outings.
You know when you're in love when you keep trying to tell yourself that you do not love him/her.
You know you're in love when you're attracted to him/her but not because they look hot. You don't even mind if he/she in derssed in tatters.
You know you're in love when you want to give up everything for that special someone.
You know you're in love when you start to dress according to what that person likes.
You know you're in love when strangers on the street reminds you of him/her and sometimes when you hear a similar voice to him/her only to realise it's not.
You know you're in love when you start to be very conscious about your dressing, behavior, table manners when you're around him/her. And you tend to stutter when in fact you're able to rattle off tongue twisters in normal circumstances.
You know you're in love when your normally witty replies and jokes are about as funny and amusing as dry ice around him/her.
You know you're in love when this ONE person is all that is on your mind while you're reading this.
So are you in love? =)
