Of course it makes a sound. Human hearing doesn't define a sound, it's the sound waves that are created by the act that creates the sound. So that in mind, regardless of whether you hear the tree falling or not, it falls thus creating a sound.

If it lands then, yes. Then again, there are two definitions to sound. One is brain signals that animals interprit as audible sound. The other is the compresion waves that travel throu a median of matter.

Nature sure the heck gets out of the way. Birds, Squirrels, Raccoons, Bears, etc.

How would they know they were in danger if it didn't make a sound.

They hear it. (I suppose vibration could also warn them, but my feeling is yes, it absolutely makes a sound, and a loud one at that.)

Absolutely not. Sound is something that is perceived via a conscious mind. If there is no conscious mind in the area, sound can't be perceived. Perception occurs in the brain, and if there's no brain, there's no sound. Simple.

That's like saying people on the other side of the world do not talk. Just because I'm not in England, doesn't mean the entire country has gone silent...or has it?

no because there is no humans around to hear it. this is proven by fact. in order for sound to occur, the human ear (or the ear of animals) has to hear it and transmit it to the brain. without that transmission, there technically is no sound. idk...this is what my science teacher told me. but then again she's full of a bunch of crap.
