You are correct. Cadillacs just aren't Cadillacs anymore. When I buy a Cadillac, I expect a large, body-on-frame, rear-drive vehicle with enough trunk space to make Jimmy Hoffa happy and a ride so soft that a baby could sleep while touring on washboard roads. It's a shame they don't build 'em like that anymore. Lincoln builds a better Cadillac than Cadillac does, and Lexus is closest in spirit to Henry Leland's vision for the company - quality-laden cars that are built to last forever, but run with such refinement as to belie the toughness of the car. It has been said of Henry Leland that quality was his God. Henry Ford brought us the production line, but Henry Leland's Cadillacs brought us interchangeable parts.

As to the one who said Cads are just overpriced Chevys - Cadillacs, with only a few exceptions, have never, ever shared any mechanicals or chassis with Chevrolet. The few things they shared - the Nova chassis for the first Seville, the Cavalier chassis and drivetrain for the forgettable Cimarron, and the small block V8's used in the late 80's and early 90's, along with a very few components from Oldsmobile, are no longer being shared. The bulk of Cadillacs have never, ever shared idea one with Chevrolet.

They screwed themselves when they rebadged the Cavalier and called it a Cimmaron. They're still paying for that mistake.
