Italy won the World Cup. After full time and extra time Italy and France were still tied 1-1 so it came down to penalty kicks, in which Italy scored all 5, while France only got 3 of the 4 they attempted. Many believe that France would have won if Zidane had not got sent off for the red card. But I doubt it as no one from the Italian side missed their penalty kick but a guy from the French side missed his. So Italy would have still one 5-4 if Zidane had stayed on.
