Yes, if your a "Valley Girl" you do have an accent. I've never met one that didn't. I have an accent, but it depends upon where I am living at the time. I guess I just have an ear for language. When I am in the South, I speak with a Southern Drawl, when I lived in California I talked like a Southern Californian, when I lived in Japan, I learned Japanese and routinely fooled Japanese people when talking to them on the phone. But I have learned that each area of each language has its own special flavor. There are special words for certain things in different geographical area's that aren't used at all in others. And this is all in the American English language. Americans speak english.. but the English don't think so. :)

I have a southern accent, since I live in Arkansas (cue the jokes about Bill Clinton and hillbillies) but I thank my lucky stars that I didn't pick up on the truly heinous drawl that some people around me have. Some people where I live sound like cats with thier tails stuck under a rocking chair when they talk. I don't. In fact, the only time people even take notice of my accent is when I'm up north. So I have one, but not a bad one at all. :D

People in Chicago notice I don't say "pop" when I ask for a soft drink...I'm from Cali. I think it's funny.
