To get into medical school in the U.S. you need a year of organic chem, a year of inorganic chem, a year of physics, and a year of biology - some require microbiology too. Whatever major you decide to specialize in after that is up to you. Since many people seeking plastic surgery as an elective operation are a special breed, you might considering either marketing (because it is often elective, people need to choose) or pyschology (high percentage of personality disorders in your clientel) as a majors in undergrad. Having a smattering of art/sculpture classes wouldn't hurt either.
Once in medical school - everyone takes the same course work. Upon graduation from medical school,. then you do a residency and perhaps a fellowship. I suspect after medical school being a plastic surgeon requires another 6 to 8 years of residency, maybe more.
On your way into medicine, I might suggest that you take a basic EMT course. Once you have passed it you can either volunteer or actually work as an EMT. It is great front line training that is forever useful. Additionally it shows the medical admissions board that you have an interest in medicine and have had some first hand experience to know.
Good luck.

You can major in anything you want, from English to history to mechanical engineering, and get into med school as long as you take the premed courses in bio, chem, physics, math, and English. About half of successful med school applicants each year did not major in a science; of those that did, bio, chem, and some combination of the two were the most common. You'll need 4 years of college, 4 years of med school, 5 years general surgical residency, and up to another 5 years of fellowship before getting a job on your own. You can take the premed classes at any 4-year college or university, so find the best college you like and can get into and go there.

Undergrad - you can major in anything you want. Just make sure you get the basic sciences down in order to prepare for the MCAT. A good way is to go "pre-med" so you know you have all those classes under your belt. Speak with your college guidance counselors. Since you're interested in plastic surgery, I would also take some art classes - in particular human art; and psychology.
For you grad school, will be Medical school for four years... after that, you will apply for residencies in plastic surgery. A plastic surgeon is a regular doctor whose specialty is in PS.

For your undergraduate, you can have whatever major you want, as long as you complete the basic requirements for medical school (1 year gen chem, 1 year organic, 1 year bio, 1 year physics). And then you go to med school like every other type of surgeon.

Biology, pre-med, chemistry, and bio-chemistry. Those are the classes you take. Then you pursue your doctorate in medical school for specialization in cosmetic surgery. But, honey, if you're gonna operate on my face, I'd rather you just KNEW that ya know. It's kinda scary that you're asking that on Yahoo Answers. Just a thought.... Don't you have a high school counselor or something? Ohhh, and keep in mind, it's really not like Nip/Tuck, so don't get disappointed!

Take whatever you will need for medical school. After college you'll have 4 years of med school, then an internship and a residency in your chosen specialty. That's 14 years, dude; hope you're committed for the long haul.

Seriously, biology/chemistry/anatomy classes will be necessary, and you might want to throw in a psychology class or two as well. You may need to convince some people that they don't need work done.....well, most who come in won't *need* anything done, but you might have to assuage some egos here and there.

Take whatever will get you into med school. Check the med school web sites to see what you need. Usually chemistry (organic and inorganic), biology, math, physics, and others. Getting into med school is the first step.

Talk to your academic advisor. Its a long road ahead of you, and the work never stops. But my bf's dad is a PS, and he makes truckloads of money, but is always stressed when he is on vacation or at home, becuase if he isnt in the office, he isnt making money. be prepared to not know your family. You will be too busy for one!
