Well usually, someone's dream is in line with his or her own talents.

I have the same problem as you. For me it would be: Be an Actress, or work on Wall Street as a buisness woman. I believe that God gave you that talent for a reason, and you should use it to the best of your ability, and maybe once you get to the top you can go for your dream with no problems, or issues at all. I'm going to school for acting, and taking extra AP courses as well. So I am prepared both ways. Thus, when I go to college I will be successful in BOTH areas, and using my talent as a backup for my real dream... Acting. You don't have to compromise!

I followed my talent, and it worked for me.

In college there were a lot of things that interested me, but I hated college itself and kept dropping out. So I eventually figured that if I was ever going to finish college, I should just take the easiest major I could think of in order to breeze on through. I always was good at foreign languages (though not particularly interested in them), so I took a major in communications and languages. It turned out to be a good strategy. Since the major was easy, I ended up at the top of my class. All the positive reinforcement increased my interest in the field, and since the work was easy for me I ended up near the top of my field once employed.

I'm not saying that dreams can't come true. But some college students get focused on a major that's exotic and challenging but totally unsuited to their natural skills. They beat their heads against a brick wall for four or eight years, and they come away from college with a diploma in a field that they've come to detest. I knew a couple fellows who did that.

So if you're going to follow a dream, be careful. Don't get too far away from your talent or the dream may go very sour. Stop on down at the career counselor's office and do some testing to learn your natural strengths and weaknesses, if only so you can make an informed choice.

Just my opinion, of course.

Do the thing you are best at and can make the most money at and do the other as a hobby or back up plan. If one of the things you THINK you are going to be is rich and famous through acting/singing forget that right now. Billions have had the same dreams, few are chosen. If you really do love acting/singing then I'm sure there's plenty of opportunities for that in your own community theatre groups or singing at charity functions. "Being someone" doesn't mean you have to be famous, I'm just as important to my family as Rihanna or Keira Knightley or any "star" is to theirs and so are you.

depends on your talent, and depends on your dream. If you wanna talk it over, email me! I love helping people in these kinds of situations. Really, it can be a win win situation if you do it right. And sometimes, you can integrate the two. But like I said, depends on your talent, and your dream. And, I bet you have many talents. Why one over the other? Why not another, less used talent, that can be strengthened through living your dream?

You know what, if you have talent use it. It was not here for nothing. Can't go wrong if you have it, someone will notice you along the way

Whichever will put you in a position to do the other. I love photography and trains, so... I'm taking a position as a train conductor on the trans-con freight routes. When we are stopped waiting for other trains to pass, I can take photographs.
