I like all three, each for different reasons. E-trade is the most expensive, but seems more innovative. Ameritrade has a really nice platform with lots of research available. It's also quite inexpensive. Scottrade is the cheapest, and has generally good service too, so I have no complaints.

Definitely Scott trade. It has good trading platform, 3rd party research and cost base accounting. These additional features is what differentiate them with the other brokerages.

All I know is I don't like scottrade because they don't offer much research help, i guess that's what yahoos for
